Vista Troubleshooting

Ovation Devices with Windows Installation Files Pre-loaded

  • Applies to MC990D, MC950D, MC930D, MC760, MC727

These devices are pre-loaded with Windows installation files preloaded in the device. When device is plugged into the computer, it should be discovered as a Mass Storage device and user should be prompted to allow an auto-installer file run.

Troubleshooting Vista Installations

Troubleshooting Vista Connection (after successful installation)

Symptom Possible issue Possible Resolution 

MobilinkLite unable to detect device

or

MobilinkLite never gets network available (with LED flashing any color other than red)

CD/DVD Program (such as Roxio) fails to allow installer program to "eject" mass storage device Turn off AutoInstall feature in device

Device Driver has been corrupted or lost association with MobilinkLite

Update Driver

Or

Remove Device Driver and then re-install from known location

Unable to use internet, when MobilinkLite indicates that the modem is connected and the modem is showing solid color (other than Red) Vista Network and Sharing Center shows "Local Only" instead of "Local and Internet" This is a Vista problem/feature. Vista in attempts to protect the user from security issues when changing network connections may block internet access when it detects that the DNS(Domain Name Service) address has changed. Often this can be resolved re-Set up a connection or network.

 

To Remove Mobilink LIte ( or Mobilink, Mobilink3)

  1. Navigate to Uninstall or Chainge Program (Start | Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features | Uninstall or change a program)
  2. Locate Mobilink Lite in the list of programs - Select Mobilnk Lite
  3. Click "Uninstall" from options
