Debian linux distribution automatic system configuration package.

These instructions are for debian linux distributions such as

  • Ubuntu (and derivatives such as Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Christian Edition, ...),
  • Xandros,
  • Knoppix.

The package does not require source code changes since it will use the existing drivers.

The package will configure the system to use the best driver available, for kernels 2.4.x and 2.6.x using devfs or udev.

  • Note: For 2.4.x kernels there is a performance penalty (uses usbserial which has throughput limited to about 500 kbps)

If you have not already done so, get package Debian Modem Driver Config - 1.1_6

You may install package from GUI or Command Line.

GUI Installation

Double click on the downloaded .deb configuration package.

For example on Ubuntu system configured to run Package Installer
